About

Dr. Umair Riaz graduated in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2013 from University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore sub campus Jhang and received his Master’s degree (M.Phil.) in Theriogenology in 2013 from UVAS, Lahore. His research work during M.Phil. was on ‘Effect of timing of artificial insemination and ovulation in relation to onset of standing heat on pregnancy rate in Nili-Ravi buffaloes’.

Dr. Umair is presently on study leave and doing PhD in Animal Reproduction from Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, China.

His research interests are improving livestock fertility through enhancing post-thaw semen quality and optimizing protocols of estrus synchronization and ovulation. He is lifetime member of ‘Society for Animal Reproduction of Pakistan (SARP)’. His main responsibilities are teaching of Theriogenology courses, clinical case handling, research and farm extension services.

1. Won competitive scholarship from China Scholarship Council for PhD from 2018-2022.
2. Awarded with travel grant from Punjab Agricultural Research Board (PARB) for oral presentation in the ‘International Conference on Animal and Dairy Sciences’ (ICADS 2015), from 21-22 May 2015, Berlin, Germany.
3. Awarded Merit Scholarship throughout DVM program, 2006-11.
4. Nominated for Merit Scholarship in M.Phil. program, 2011.
